Within the framework of the on-going "ERA.Net Plus with Russia" (2013-2018), a work meeting between representatives from the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the German Aerospace Center (Project Management Agency) on cooperation opportunities took place on 29 July 2016 at the FEB RAS headquarter in Vladivostok (Russia). The list of participants included Prof Yury Kulchin (Vice President of FEB RAS), Marina Shtets (Head of International Department, FEB RAS), Dr Andreas Kahle (ERA.Net RUS Plus Coordinator, DLR), Yaroslav Sorokotyaga (International Relations Department, Division Director, RFBR) and Denis Rudik (International Relations Department, RFBR).

After a thorough introduction of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and its main scientific working areas by Prof Kulchin, the participants discussed potential thematic areas of a second joint call in the ERA.NET Plus with Russia (currently being planned) and financial framework conditions for participation. The invited researchers Dr Oleg Vitrik and Dr Roman Romashko (Institute of Automation and Control Processes, FEB RAS) shared their cooperation experiences within the ERA.Net RUS Plus supported projects. All partners stressed the high importance of the ERA.Net RUS Plus as a highly successful and operational funding scheme for funding organisations from European Union member states and countries associated to the research framework programme Horizon 2020 and Russia. The ERA.Net Plus with Russia is expected to further enhance the partnership between the participating organisations by stimulating research and innovation cooperation with FEB RAS being an important part of it.
